Arcturis provided real estate/land services, planning, civil engineering, architecture, interiors, landscape architecture, and graphic design for Affinia’s new medical facility. The building houses a state-of-the-art family practice health care clinic, replacing a nearby existing Grace Hill facility. The building also incorporates rooms for community outreach use.
Application of Business Information Modeling (BIM) design enabled an efficient collaboration process between the design and engineering teams as well as project stakeholders. Timely and effective decision making utilizing the power and flexibility of BIM allowed Arcturis to surpass the client’s tight deadline requirements.
The project, located in a disadvantaged neighborhood, plans to rejuvenate this area by buying and occupying several properties, including closing a street to improve conditions around the site. Keeping in mind the historic nature of the location, near one of the few remaining water towers in St. Louis, and having respect for the architectural elements used in other surrounding buildings, the new facility includes such materials as zinc, brick, glass, composite panels and precast stem walls. The project is highlighted by tower-like elements (the entry, and main signage) that relate to the nearby columnar water towers that serve this portion of the city.
