To meet the growing needs of the community and better serve patrons of all ages—particularly young adults—the City of Carlyle embarked on an ambitious library expansion. The new design reimagines the traditional library as a vibrant, multipurpose destination that blends timeless architectural inspiration with the latest in library innovation.

The exterior draws from a historic interpretation of neo-classical design, lending the building a sense of civic presence and permanence. Inside, however, the space embraces a contemporary vision for libraries—flexible, inclusive, and technology-forward.

A central fireplace greets visitors upon entry, creating a warm and welcoming focal point that encourages gathering and relaxation. Throughout the interior, a wood ceiling adds both acoustic comfort and visual warmth, complementing a natural, earthy palette that enhances the inviting atmosphere.

The expanded facility offers modern amenities such as collaborative workspaces, dedicated teen areas, private study rooms, technology access, and flexible programming zones—supporting everything from quiet reading to community events. Thoughtfully designed to inspire lifelong learning and connection, the Carlyle Public Library is a new cornerstone for education, creativity, and civic engagement.
