Experience + Traits for Success
B.S. or B.A. in Accounting (or equivalent) required
CPA designation preferred
10+ years of accounting experience within the service industry
Strong software skills, especially relating to Microsoft Office (in particular, Excel)
Experience with ERP systems for professional service company required; knowledge of Deltek Vantage Point a plus
Strong diligence
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to tailor communication style to audience and at all levels of the firm
Ability to analyze complex data and translate it into meaningful reports
A strategic thinker with problem solving abilities and leadership qualities
Ability to effectively mentor/train and participate in annual performance reviews
Ability to manage, prioritize and balance the accounting team’s workload with little direction or oversight
Primary responsibilities
Oversight of all project accounting assuring monthly invoicing including consultants completed in a timely manner; set up and process more complex project invoicing; summarize and analyze monthly billing results for Leadership team
Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure accuracy and timely financial reporting
Prepare and analyze financial statements with the ability to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement
Firm wide budgeting: Lead the annual budgeting process working with the Leadership Team to develop accurate/realistic budgets including stretch targets. Monitor and report actual performance against budget highlighting unfavorable variance; prepare monthly forecast to highlight any significant variance from Budget
