The first phase of The District Gateway Master Plan inspired the creation of three Light Hubs in downtown Columbia. The light hubs, located in three different themed areas of downtown, were crafted by local and national artists to use globes suspended above the street on cables highlighting the unique character of each place. The first phase hubs, located in the historic Sharp End Neighborhood, the North Village Arts District, and Flat Branch Park, create place-based identity and highlight the uniquely dynamic character of downtown Columbia, Missouri. Arcturis worked with The District and the project artists to engage the local community throughout the design process to ensure that the Light Hubs are a true representation of the area’s local identity.
