The Wydown Middle School was the first school the Clayton School district had built from the ground up in 40 years. Our team met with all the stakeholders early on in the planning phase to aid the process: administration, faculty, community, the city and, importantly, the students.
From the outset, the top priority was to create βthe best learning environment for our children.β In the final design, every classroom and gathering space was designed to connect somehow to the outdoor environment. Teaching and communal areas are adaptable to meet the needs of students. Thoughtfully designed open environments support everything from independent learning to spontaneous performances.
